Manufacturer's Insights: 6 Shower Head Styles to Avoid

As a professional manufacturer of shower heads, we have been deeply engaged in this industry for many years and accumulated rich experience. Today, we sincerely wish to share with you some key points for choosing shower heads to help you evade those choices that might bring you regret.

Do you know? In the realm of shower heads, there are six styles that seem fine but actually conceal hidden problems. During our production and research and development processes, we manufacturers are well aware of all the details.

Shower Heads

1. Don’t choose plastic water outlets

There are mainly two common materials for the water outlets of shower heads in the market. One is the more durable silicone, and the other is the ordinary plastic. It is advisable to choose the silicone material for several reasons.

Firstly, the silicone water outlets are extremely convenient to clean. Because the silicone material is relatively soft and has a resilient touch. If there are scale or impurities blocking the water outlet holes, you can simply rub them gently with your hands to clear the clogged items and ensure smooth water flow.

However, the plastic water outlets are relatively hard and not easy to clean manually. After long-term use, scale is prone to accumulate, resulting in reduced water flow or even blockage.

Furthermore, due to the softness of the silicone material, the water flow from the silicone water outlets is gentler and more comfortable, making people feel more relaxed and enjoyable during the shower.

While the water flow from the plastic water outlets is more concentrated and has a stronger impact force, making it uncomfortable and even a bit painful during the shower.

2. Don’t choose those without built-in filtration

During the treatment and transportation of tap water, some impurities like residual chlorine, sediment, organic matter, algae, and rust may mix in, causing allergic problems for people with sensitive skin.

By opting for a shower head with a built-in filtration function, these impurities can be effectively intercepted, thereby reducing the potential harm to our bodies.

In contrast, those shower heads without a built-in filtration function not only fail to filter out these impurities in the water but their own water outlet holes are also easily blocked by scale.

However, the shower heads with built-in filtration can effectively reduce the formation of scale and naturally extend the service life of the shower head.

What’s more, for the shower heads with a filtration function, their filter elements are generally replaceable. This way, it is not only hassle-free but also cost-effective!

3. Don’t choose the small-hole pressurized type

Everyone knows to purchase a pressurized shower head, but should you choose the small-hole pressurized type or the air-injection pressurized type? My suggestion is to select the latter.

The small-hole pressurized shower head achieves the pressurization effect by reducing the size of the water outlet holes to increase the water flow speed. However, this “high water pressure” hitting the body may feel like being pricked by needles, not gentle enough.

The air-injection pressurized shower head has a special structure inside, such as a water turbine or an air mixing chamber. It utilizes the water flow power to draw in air and form a water-air mixture, thereby increasing the volume and speed of the water flow to achieve the pressurization effect.

It can make the water flow more delicate and uniform, and the feeling when hitting the body is more gentle, just like the natural rain in spring.

4. Don’t choose the paraffin valve core

The material of the valve core directly determines whether the shower head will leak after being used for a period of time. Generally speaking, when choosing a shower head, the paraffin valve core is not preferred. Ceramic valve cores should be chosen.

Ceramic valve cores are resistant to high temperatures and corrosion. Whether it is alternating between hot and cold water or in an environment with poor water quality, it can perform stably and is not easily corroded.

The paraffin valve core is relatively soft and is prone to wear under the “attack” of scale and impurities, resulting in an unpleasant experience when using the shower head.

Secondly, the sealing performance of the ceramic valve core is particularly good, which can effectively prevent dripping and leakage, ensuring smooth use of the shower head and water conservation.

While the sealing performance of the paraffin valve core is relatively average due to the material, and dripping is prone to occur.

5. Don’t choose the spiral stainless steel hose

From my personal experience, when choosing a shower head, people tend to prefer PVC explosion-proof hoses rather than spiral stainless steel hoses.

Although stainless steel hoses are corrosion-resistant and high-temperature resistant, when used in winter, if you accidentally touch it, it feels very cold.

Moreover, due to the hard material, it is also easy to pinch the skin or get tangled when in use.

In contrast, the PVC hose has good chemical corrosion resistance, is not prone to aging, and is relatively soft when used in winter, providing a much more comfortable touch.

More importantly, it can also prevent the risk of burst and leakage caused by high water pressure.

6. Don’t choose black shower heads

Choosing the color of the shower head is not merely about appearance. It is also directly related to the convenience of daily cleaning.

Black shower heads may look upscale initially, but over time, minerals in the water will leave marks and form water stains, requiring frequent cleaning.

On the contrary, white or gun-gray shower heads are more durable. Especially the gun-gray ones have a smooth surface and shine with just a wipe. Scale is hardly noticeable at all.

Furthermore, many black shower heads are either painted or plated with water. Over time, the paint may come off.

While many gun-gray shower heads are electroplated, with strong corrosion resistance, and the issue of paint peeling basically does not occur.

The six types of shower heads I shared are all potential pitfalls that may be encountered. Therefore, when choosing a shower head during decoration, everyone must be cautious. Don’t make a wrong choice. Not only will it be uncomfortable to use, but it may also break down soon.
